This cough season, TussiCaps® is available at over 26,000 pharmacies across the US, including Rite Aid®, Walgreens®, Wal-Mart®, Safeway™, and Kroger®.
The wide-scale availability of TussiCaps® represents good news for pharmacists who have been preparing for one of the most challenging cough seasons in history.
Following the Food and Drug Administration's 2007 removal of nearly 200 unapproved cough products containing hydrocodone from the market, pharmacists are preparing for longer-than-normal lines and countless phone calls to local doctors to discuss prescription alternatives.
Having a branded prescription cough treatment in unit-of-use packaging promises to greatly simplify dispensing.
Cover your cough
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention initiated a campaign called "Cover your Cough" to help reduce the transmission of viruses and bacteria. The focus of the effort is to encourage people to adopt a hands-free technique for covering their mouth when coughing or sneezing. Flyers and posters are available for free download at the CDC web site.
